Senior Manager/Supervisor
Serve as Head of Research for Bitcoin research and development center
Duties include: Conduct research, collect and analyze data using contemporary mathematical and statistical tools, and lead research teams focusing on practical topics related to the variety of challenges facing Bitcoin including privacy and security within Bitcoin and related technologies; disseminate (internally and externally) the results of research activities through publications, seminar participation, internal documentation, etc.; publish findings in top conferences and peer- reviewed journals; recruit, train, and manage team of researchers, including guiding researchers through all the stages of conducting research, presenting at leading conferences and publishing in leading journals; organize events connecting the open source community to contemporary academic research; and create academic connections with researchers from different universities and companies. Travel to conferences and/or events required, U.S. and international, approx. once every 3 months
Salary range: $215,000-$250,000/year.
Requires:
● PhD (or foreign equivalent) in Cryptography or Mathematics.
● 1 year of experience as researcher or research scientist (or similar title)
performing Blockchain-specific research, including the use of MatLab,
Python or SQL. Experience may be gained before/during/after degree, and
employer will accept 12 months of full-time experience or an equivalent
amount of part-time experience.
● Presentation of at least 3 presentations at (a) cryptography or
mathematics conferences organized by any of the following organizations:
International Association for Cryptologic Research, Institute of Electrical
and Electronics Engineers, Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics,
Association for Computing Machinery, USENIX, or (b) cryptography or
mathematics conferences for which proceedings were published by any of
the above organizations or the scholarly journal publishers Wiley, Elsevier,
or Springer. May be before/during/after degree.
● Co-authorship of at least 5 published papers. May be before/during/after
degree.
